Full Moon - Red Moon

These photos were taken around 10:15 tonight and I have not tampered with them in any way in Photoshop or anywhere else. The moon was already one quarter the way up into the sky, higher than when the normal atmospheric effects cause the moon to look yellow, gold, or orange - as well as larger than it appears when it's high in the sky. I've never seen the moon look this red before. I believe the "red" appearance is the effect caused by dust and water particles in the air. It's been hot, hazy & humid here in central PA providing ample moisture - and there's a bit of fog tonight following a short rain shower. In any case, it's an eerie sight.

The Studio - an Update

Once again I have a working studio space and projects to work on! I'm using my rusted fabrics to create a new series of work and am quite excited about them. It's so good to be working again!

And the rest of the house is finally coming together.

Below is my collection of Anchor Hocking Forest Green Glassware. They look wonderful in the all-white bookcase!

Below: our dining room, which is completely open to the living room.

The guest bedroom:

The atrium - complete with our GrandDog who is visiting for a few days.

Here are the latest from our ever-blooming garden. Every day we find something unexpected and wonderful. The former owners really had a flair for gardening - and for creating gardens that require very little by way of upkeep. We love it!

Independence Day + Night 2008

We hung our flag for our new home today - but I forgot to take a picture of it. I did wander around the yard and get photos of other things however.

This little fellow is but one of many cottontails that scamper/hop through our yard on a daily basis. He/she was one of the smaller ones to come and visit our clover patch.

And don't the following flowers resemble fireworks a bit? If you use your imagination???

Later, we went up the hill and watched the State College fireworks from the top of the hill. Next year, we'll get closer for this 45 minute spectacular volunteer fireworks display set to music. But tonight, we listened to the radios in the neighborhood and watched from afar.

It was the perfect ending to a wonderful day. I hope you have had a good July 4th Independence Day, too!
