Collage Mania is now officially open with original artworks offered in exchange for donations to the American Cancer Society. For the past few years I have donated art to this cause mainly because I can more easily donate my art than I can cash AND it is guaranteed that 100% of the donations go directly to the ACS. Virginia Speigel has spearheaded this effort and many of us from the QuiltArt on-line group donate work for this (hopefully) yearly event.
I have three "Raven" cards entered this year and one sold today on "Gold Donor Day" - meaning some wonderful person donated $80.00 to ACS in exchange for this one art card! I'm delighted and can't wait to find out who will be receiving the piece pictured above from me sometime in the next week. All three of my cards can be seen on page 38 - there are a total of 39 pages of artworks for "sale." The next two days, each art work will be available for a donation of $40.00. Go visit the site just to get an idea of how creative we can be with small work!
Meanwhile, I want to thank all those who wrote in response to my last posting. Your comments are heartening and I'm grateful for every message. I'll be responding to each of you ASAP, plus continuing the story as it unfolds.
Many thanks!
Pat
The Raven Challenge was the most fun I have had with my clothes on in aeons.
ReplyDeleteA treat to see your cards again.
I didn't donate mine to Collage Mania as I sent it to a Poe loving friend who was diagnosed this year with ovarian cancer and I thought she needed it more..
Oh, Leslie, that's a perfect thing to do with your Raven piece - far more personal than donating money! And I'm fairly certain she needed your art card more than that more money be donated to ACS...
ReplyDeleteKeep on keeping on!
I am the lucky person that acquired your piece! I love it and can't wait to hang it in memory of my mother (breast & colon cancer). Thus the Gold Donor Day~felt compelled. I will treasure it.
ReplyDeleteForgot to mention my mother's name was Pat and her maiden name was Dolan! Such coincidence...
ReplyDeleteO my! Coincidence or synchronicity - I guess it was meant to be. I am grateful to have heard your story and happy to know (in some tiny way) the woman who it will honor.
ReplyDeleteI'll mail it out as soon as I receive the listings for all three pieces sold.
Thank you!
Pat
