Months Have Past...Charlie Has Grown - a LOT!

See what I mean??? He's like a dachshund with lots of curly hair! Short legs and a really long body! We now keep him trimmed much shorter than he once was - less pricker burrs in his fur this way, for sure...and snowballs in his fur.  Besides, he HATES to be brushed, so this is an easy way out for me.

Charlie loved the snow and colder weather. After all, he's mostly a black dog, so he finds the sunshine quite warm - which is great in the winter, but not so much today, when it's now 81 degrees outside! This is way too early in spring to be this hot, but climate change doesn't care about our preferences or history.

This week, Charlie me is newest "favorite" person (he loves everyone!) when our son stopped by for a quickie 22 hour visit.

You can see they had a very good time playing together! Charlie is a very active little buddy, as most puppies are. He demands at least 5 walks per day - but he would prefer a lot more and/or a lot longer walks than we want to do.

Charlie loves go bring home "goodies" collected on his walks. Usually, that means a mouthful of mulch, hidden inside his furry mouth. Occasionally, he finds something a big larger or more interesting...

And he also attracts large snowballs go his furry self - he doesn't seem to mind them at all,  but we don't want him anywhere near us when he's covered with snow!!!

Charlie found a green tomato on one of our walks - it was a fun "ball" as far as he was concerned! He also likes to pick up black walnuts from the many trees in our area. And he loves finding tissues - a favorite of all puppies and kittens...

One day he found a chunk of concrete on the hill (left over from the building site that became our development). I weighed the darned thing when we got home - ig weighed 1 1/2 pounds!!!

Sticks are a favorite, of course. And the what became his favorite carrying partner, a wooden property stake left behind! That treasure comes with us often on our walks, and is deposited by the front door when we get home. If he tires from carrying it, he leaves it in someone's yard, only to reclaim it when we are returning home.

He loves our porch swing and chair. He acts like a king surveying his kingdom!

Most mornings, I have my 2nd cup of tea with Charlie on my lap while swinging on the porch swing. It's a nice way to start the day!

Hope you enjoyed Charlie's 9 months of life. He's a bundle of energy and joy. We're delighted to have him in our family.

Next time, I'll update my artistic pursuits and post lots of bird photos. Til then, be well!
