Spring!

A few recent paintings as I started adding backgrounds...

Baltimore Oriole - male on branch

Egret above the marsh

Spring is playing peek-a-boo with many in the country. But artists like myself are focused on spring paintings to share with our communities. My current focus is on birds, as you have seen from previous posts. However, I've expanded my interests a bit to include colorful butterflies and moths. And I'm adding more by way of backgrounds to give the birds and butterflies an environment they enjoy.

My previous thoughts were to simply focus on the birds without the distraction of additional trees, grasses, leaves, flowers, etc. Just the bird on a mainly white background so all eyes are on the subject in the painting.

I'm unsure as to how I will proceed, but for now, I am experimenting with various settings for my feathered and/or flying friends. Here are some current, in the works, paintings on the drawing/painting table.

Allen Hummingbird in flight

Spotted blue-purple butterfly on butterfly bush

And here is one I did awhile ago, but updated recently.

I'd be interested in reading your comments.
Happy Spring to you!!!
